Okay, GO! Families and volunteers submitting an application to attend the 2017 Charles Kleinschmidt Fabry Family Camp at Victory Junction please submit your applications as soon as possible on or after July 1st, 2017 (not before).

The application process for families and volunteers begins July 1, 2017. To be ready, there are some things you should do before the online application form opens for families and before the volunteer application process begins.

For camp, all children with Fabry disease ages 6 to 16 years old must have a medical form completed and signed by your physician. It must be completed on the official Victory Junction Form and is required every year your children attend camp. Here is the link: VJ Camper Medical Form. Please make medical appointments in May or June to be ready by July 1st.

ALL children under 18 years old attending camp (not just the kids with Fabry) must have updated immunizations according to the Victory Junction Immunization Policy. Please ensure your physician reviews all the childhood immunizations required for your child's/children's respective ages and update any immunizations needed as of the camp date, September 29. If your physician indicates an immunization is not required that is required in the immunization policy, please resolve the conflict early before the application process starts on July 1st, if possible. To resolve any conflicts please email Jerry Walter at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Here is the 2016 policy link: Victory Junction Immunization Policy  to use as a reference until we receive the 2017 policy. It usually does not change from year to year. We are not required to have flu shot documentation because our camp dates are before flu season begins.

Families: Please apply even if you have attended before and have been denied on subsequent applications. Every year if different.

Volunteers are required to have a Staff and Volunteer Physical form completed and signed by your physician/provider and must have the required immunizations the same as campers (link above). The physical must be completed on an official Victory Junction Staff and Volunteer Physical Form. Form link: Staff and Volunteer Physical Form. Because many volunteers may not have ready access to immunization records, titer tests may be completed to detremine your protection before getting a new immunization. Titer tests often take a little time to get back so starting early is even more important to avoid surprises. Victory Junction is very strict about their policy with no exceptions. If you have a unique situation of some sort, please tell us early. Please make medical appointments in May or June as necessary to be ready by July 1st.

In addition to the above requirements, volunteers are required to submit names and contact information for three non-family/non-friend references, complete an interview with the Victory Junction volunteer coordinator, undergo a brief background check, and perform a few other steps. Please be ready and start your application as soon as possible on or after July 1st. Volunteer applicants must be at least 19 years old.

Operating the camp requires about 60 volunteers. We coordinate with the Fabry community to provide about 2/3 of the volunteers needed and Victory Junction provides the rest. We are fortunate to have volunteers from Fabry clinics, industry, family members, friends and some individuals with Fabry disease. You must be healthy enough to perform all volunteer duties. The hours on Saturday are quite long, there is quite a bit of walking on somewhat hilly terrain, and there is some physical activity involved. Volunteers look after/cater to families, guide them around camp, serve their family style meals, and participate in activities with them to ensure they have a great time. It is all about the families/campers.

To sum it all up, camp is an awesome experience for campers and volunteers alike. You can find out more about the facilities at camp by visiting And, in case you are wondering, even though it's called a camp, it's not rustic and has more of a theme park feel. It this case, a race car theme thanks to the NASCAR Petty family who built Victory Junction in honor of Adam Petty.

If you wish to attend or volunteer at camp, please email Jerry Walter at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. as soon as possible to let us know you would like to attend/volunteer.
